6  ATTACKING PLAYS

The kicking plays are described fully in the previous section, so they're not repeated here. You cannot use the kicking plays except on the sixth tackle.

6.1  PLAY DESCRIPTIONS

FORWARD DRIVE (FR)   A short pass to a forward to drive straight ahead.

HALFBACK RUN (HR)   A short pass to a half back to drive straight ahead.

CENTRE RUN (CR)   Pass the ball along the line for a centre to drive straight ahead.

WING RUN (WR)   Pass the ball along the line for a wing to drive straight down the touchline.

OVERLAP (OL)   Pass along the line for the overlapping full back to drive straight down the touchline.

UNDERLAP (UL)   A short pass to the full back to drive straight ahead up the middle.

RUN FROM DUMMY HALF (DR)   The hooker drives straight ahead from acting half.

FORWARD OFFLOAD (FO)   A forward drive with the player attempting offload in the tackle.

HALFBACK OFFLOAD (HO)   A half back run, offloading in the tackle.

BACK OFFLOAD (BO)   A centre, wing or full back run, offloading in the tackle.

INSIDE FORWARD (IF)   A pass inside to a forward crossing behind the ball carrier.

INSIDE HALFBACK (IH)   An inside pass to a half back crossing behind the ball carrier.

INSIDE BACK (IB)   A pass inside to a back crossing behind the ball carrier.

HALFBACK GO (HG)   A half back dummy pass and go.

HALF & HALF (HH)   A half back loops around the second half back with an exchange of passes.

OUTSIDE RUN (OR)   Pass along the line to a roaming loose forward to drive straight ahead.

SPIN WIDE (SW)   Long, floated or miss passes to move the ball quickly to an outside back.
